B9 Dental Clinic

Everyone has that fear of stepping into a dental clinic, and it is the same for me as well.
Avoidance was my game when it comes to dental, even when I had my first tooth infection years ago.
It was when the pain of my teeth started to frequent, only then I would consult a dentist.

B9 Dental Clinic, opened by Dr Raymond Lim, has the passion for excellence in dental and healthcare services. They ensure each of their patients receives the very best professional advice and personal guidance for their situation.
They cover all major dental treatments, including tooth surgery, gum surgery, root canal treatment, etc.

B9 Dental Clinic was awarded the Promising SME 500 Award in 2014.

It was a smooth-going experience with comfortable environment and friendly staffs. Even though it was a small area for a clinic, they still ensure each patient feels comfortable.

I must admit, this is the first time I would feel that a wisdom tooth surgery process would be so enjoyable. Dr Raymond Lim's friendliness assured me of his professional skills, making me feel relaxed during the whole treatment. Entertainment service was provided as well at the ceiling in the treatment room.

It was such an enjoyable and fearless experience that till date, I'm still going back for my regular dental checkups.

For those who require dental treatments, even for the minor teeth cleaning, can probably give this clinic a try. But please make appointment before going! And they have 3 outlets located in the West and North of Singapore!

One Two Kitchen Korean BBQ & Food Restaurant

Felt like back in Korea the moment we stepped into this restaurant.
Located in the area of "overly dominated" Korean eateries, and decorated in the very Korean style.
One Two Kitchen sure has attracted the local and Korean young people.

But what really attracted "the typical Singaporean" me is this Happy Hour Promotion.
For just $49.90+, you can get to enjoy 2 servings of pork belly + steamed egg + any choice of the following 4 options. Not forgetting to mention, sides are refillable!

2 servings = 4 strips of pork belly may seem little, but it is not.
The meat was in a thick cut, with a good mixture of fat and lean meat.
And I have to say the best steamed egg I've ever eaten is definitely from this restaurant.
The egg was still steaming hot and moist even when we've eaten more than half of it.

This place is definitely one of the places that I'll be back again.
Great place for gathering!

Fei Fei Wanton Mee 飞飞云吞面 - Joo Chiat Place

Whenever I search for wanton mee, Fei Fei Wanton Mee will definitely be one of the top few lists that appear on my screen. So since I will be heading to the east side for a wedding lunch, I decided to make that my dinner makan place.

The shop is located at 72 Joo Chiat Place. Spent at least 15 minutes walking from I12 Katong. There was only 3 customers at the time that I visited (at 6.30pm). And the coffee shop has no other stalls but just Fei Fei Wanton Mee, and it operates 24 hours daily.

Ordered just 2 bowls of their wanton mee ($4.00 for wanton mee) to try. Didn't have to wait too long for the food to be served to us. And as can see from the picture, it looks pretty plain and simple.

The ingredients were lying under the noodles so you will have to mix everything with the chilli given in the spoon. Tried the first mouth and was quite disappointed. The noodles were so hard, not as soft and springy as what was reviewed. But thank goodness for the chilli. It totally save that bowl of noodles. As I couldn't take too spicy, so the spiciness of the chilli was still at a level that I can handle. And boy, I must say that the chilli was really fragrant.

Another highlight will definitely be the wanton. Even though the size is small, but the meat was so well seasoned. The skin was very thin as well. Thumbs up!

Well, guessed I won't be heading back again any time soon. But if anyone of you would like to give it a try, sure can go for it as the portion is considered reasonable given the price of $4.

Seasonal Tastes - The Westin Singapore

Located high up at Level 32 of The Westin Singapore, Seasonal Tastes offers both magnificent skyline view of Singapore's city as well as mouth-watering buffet spread.

After reading through many reviews, we decided to have our anniversary celebration at Seasonal Tastes for a Saturday lunch buffet (12pm - 2.30pm). Though Seasonal Tastes may not have that many varieties of food, but quality was what ace the experience.

An interesting part of the buffet is you can get to DIY your own salad. A wide range of salad vegetables, ingredients and sauce for you to choose from.

What I look forward to the most about buffet is the seafood section. And I must say, Seasonal Tastes really brings in the best quality of food for their diners. The seafood are so fresh that I can just eat it without any sauce.

Other than the usual cooked food section, they also have "live" cooking section, where chefs prepare dishes for you based on your preferences. There was the pasta booth and laksa booth on the day that I visited. Portion for the pasta was relatively small, but I love the cream and how I can choose all the meat that I want. We got a bowl of laksa to share as well, but was quite disappointing though. The gravy was full of coconut milk that it covered the spiciness of it.However they were pretty generous with the ingredients, so it just made up for it.

And lastly, the main highlights - the dessert section! No matter how full one can get from these spread, there's always room for desserts! They serve pretty decent and interesting cakes, that I can't help it but to get a serving for each. There's even a staff to help with the serving of ice cream.

I find that the price were pretty reasonable for the overall quality of food.
And if you're a Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) member, you can even enjoy a 20% discount on their lunch and dinner buffet.

Here's the list to their buffet pricing:

  • Lunch Buffet: Monday to Saturday, 12pm to 2.30pm - S$45++ per person
  • Sunday Lazy Lunch Buffet: Every Sunday, 12pm to 3pm - S$75++ per person
  • Dinner Buffet: Monday to Thursday, Saturday & Sunday, 6pm to 10pm - S$65++ per person

The way to slim [Part 2]

Continuing from previous post: The way to slim [Part 1]

I've got my body structure genes from my father, so since young I've always been at least half a head taller than those of same age.
When I was in Primary 6, I was often being mistaken as a secondary school student.
And as the only child, I've always got things I want, including food.
My parents would always want to pamper me with food, and this has caused my habit to binge on food.

(Pic taken on Dec 2012)

Since 2008, I have been growing very well horizontally.
Despite getting lots of comments about my size from my relatives, I wasn't even affected about it.
Instead, I continued with my daily eating habits.
And by 2014, I was over 70kg at the height of 1.64m.

(Pic taken March 2014)

A wake up call alerted me only when I was with my current boyfriend.
His interests in sports then motivated me to start moving and lose some extra weights.
Reactivated Fitness First membership, going to gym for 5 days a week.
Not only that, I even changed my eating habits totally.
From more oil, more salt; I changed it to no oil, just boiled/steamed.
Having high fiber vegetables and fruits allow my digestive system to work better, so as to clear out the unwanted toxins.

And by Sept 2014, I lost a total of 13kg.

Now I am maintaining my body weight by building more muscles to increase metabolism which helps to burn off calories.

Note to all who wish to lose that extra weight:
The beginning journey is always tough. But you're the only who can determine how you want it to end.
End it beautifully or give up halfway.
Exercising is the journey for a better health, better you. :)

Tai Lei Loi Kei - First outlet in SG (Serangoon NEX)

The famous Tai Lei Loi Kei (TLLK) pork chop bun is selling here in Singapore!
And my first knowledge about it was when I saw the deal promotion on Deal.com website.
It was a promotion of $6.50 nett set meal which includes their Signature bun, 1 side and 1 drink (total worth: $14).
So, as a typical Singaporean, how could I resist such deal!

*Select option - and buy!*

And one fine day, I finally head down to their first outlet to try it out.

I've tried their famous Signature Pork Chop Bun in Macau, and it was really good.
So I've kept my hopes high for this SG outlet.

It wasn't dinner time when we visited. But it was full house.
However, managed to get a seat for two at one corner.

(Pic Credit: @honhuiling1991)

Bought 2 deal vouchers, so we decided to get their signature bun and polo bun.
The bun and meat was just slightly warm when we got it.
But the taste still remains the same as their Macau main outlet.
We even tried their curry fishball. The spiciness only kicks in after a few mouth of it. Really enjoy the spiciness and numbness of it.
So for people who love spicy food, you can give their curry fishball a try! :)

Although the outlet is relatively far from my place, but I definitely will not mind the travel again to satisfy my craving.

Chinese Kickboxing (Sanda)

Chinese Kickboxing (Sanda)

Sanda is an exciting and fast-paced combat workout routine which get the practitioner into peak physical shape. It is an excellent system for fighting and self-defense as well as an incredible workout system for those searching for exercise with purpose.

So what does Sanda means and where does it origins from?
Sanda means free fighting, and it origins back to 1920s by the Chinese for the training of hand to hand combat.

Sanda employs the three major ranges of combat: kicking range, striking range and the take-down range.

1. Punching range

2. Kicking range

3. Take-down range

Beginners will learn to use their hands and their feet for striking, kicking, defensive and offensive maneuvers and closing the gap in a fight. They will be trained in all the basic strikes and kicks, and learn to use them with the use of kick shield, focus mitts, and heavy bags.

Intermediate and advanced practitioners will continue by delving deeper into the striking and kicking combos and exploring the vast amount of takedown techniques contained in Sanda. They will be given the opportunity to engage in live sparring on mats and use all the techniques at their disposal.

And where can I learn Sanda at?
Several fight gyms or wushu clubs are now offering Sanda classes. This gives people with more choices of learning an all-round combat exercise.

As a Sanda practitioner, I would recommend Wan Wu Sports and Martial Arts Academy. It is an one-stop provider for all sorts of combat exercises, ranging from Chinese Wushu to Kickboxing.

Tex Toh, the founder and coach of Wan Wu Sports and Martial Arts Academy. Though started at a late age of 18, he trained himself everyday at different locations, just to strive for the best. His efforts were being paid off when he came in 3rd for both Interschool and National competition just at the second year in Sanda.
